Most men take care of their face, at least with a basic routine. The body usually gets soap, a towel and nothing else. But the skin on your arms, chest and legs deals with the same things every day: hot showers, dry air, sun and friction from clothes. Over time, that shows up as tightness, rough patches and a dull look.
The good news: it doesn’t take much to change that.
Why men’s skin gets dry
Hot water and strong shower gels strip away the natural oils that keep skin soft. Add air conditioning in summer and heating in winter, and the skin loses moisture faster than it can replace it. The result is that “tight” feeling after a shower, and sometimes itching or flaking.
The two-minute routine
Keep the shower warm, not hot. Use a mild cleanser, and don’t scrub every day.
Then the important part: apply a body lotion within a few minutes after drying off, while the skin is still slightly damp. That’s when it absorbs best. Focus on the areas that get driest: elbows, shins, shoulders and the back of the hands.
That’s it. Two minutes, once a day.
Hydration and visible signs of ageing
Skin that is well hydrated looks smoother and more even, and fine lines are less noticeable. Hydration doesn’t stop time, but daily care helps skin look and feel healthier as the years go by. Sun protection on exposed areas does the rest.
Make it a habit
The best routine is the one you actually do. Keep the lotion next to the towel, not hidden in a cupboard. After two weeks, you won’t think about it anymore. You’ll just notice that your skin feels better.
